Nobu Hotel Barcelona

Barcelona, Spain

Rise Art worked with Rockwell Group and Art of Hanging to place a collection of site specific artworks that were true to Nobu’s identity and deeply rooted in the culture of Barcelona.

Working alongside Rockwell Group and Susan Walsh Art Consultancy, Rise Art commissioned a series of murals and sculptural works for the Nobu Hotel Barcelona.

The project turned a high rise building alongside Barcelona’s main railway station into a vibrant, aspirational destination, blending Nobu’s core Japanese aesthetic with the rich, colorful spirit of Barcelona.

The large, seven meter wide abstract artwork behind the check-in desk serves as a signature Nobu touchstone, while a meditative, hanging sculpture composed of charred pieces of wood cuts through the spiral staircase.

At the bar, large sculptural columns pay tribute to the Japanese ritual of kintsugi, where broken pottery is repaired with metal-dusted lacquer.

The Nobu Hotel Barcelona has won numerous design awards, and is a finalist at the SBID International Design Awards.
